Every Level of Sailor

From beginner sailor to the top-end foiler, don’t be deceived by its “easy sailing” trimaran configuration. The Mantis is a thoroughbred and will gently bring an average sailor into the world of flying a foil. It’s designed to take the Laser, Hobie sailor to the next level and relight the adventure they felt when they first planed a Laser or heeled a Hobie.

As a Tri the Mantis is stable and beginners can operate the boat in conventional mode, progressing to foiling through “set and forget” foiling controls. With more experience the full range of foiling controls can be unleashed for new levels of excitement.

Flying Mantis foiling trimaran

Light and Trailable

No need to remove outriggers, the Flying Mantis is easily trailed with a rigged road width of 2.4m. Simple launching from the trailer is fundamental in its design and with combined hull weights of 50kg it is one of the lightest boats in its class.

Stable and Forgiving

The outrigger hull design is deep with a fine entry at the bow which gives gentle deceleration when transitioning from flight to displacement. This deep design also means the outrigger crossbeams are always clear of the water, preventing sudden deceleration from wave interaction. The deep keels also make the Flying Mantis an excellent displacement trimaran – one of its key features in helping sailors to become pilots.

The more mature or less agile sailor can compete on level terms with their younger or fitter counterparts as foiling does not require a trapeze to get performance from the design.

Really loved the boat. Had the elegance of a Rolls Royce with the speed of a Moth! Very impressed.
Sam Whaley, British Sailing Team.

Awesome to be up and foiling in 10 minutes …. when you get it slightly wrong the boat will pop up and you can keep going.
GP. First time foiler
